Certificate in Education & Training - Level 4

This qualification supports teachers, trainers and tutors working in Further Education, Adult and Community Learning or Work-based training within public and private community organisations. It prepares trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts and requires observation and assessment of practice, so teaching practice is a requirement of the qualification. The course meets the needs of a range of teachers, including:

• Planning and delivering schemes of work
• Delivering learning sessions
• Developing teaching and learning strategies
• Assessment practices

The course is a unit based qualification made up of mandatory and optional units. Optional units will be chosen with you depending on your working situation and will be discussed at your course interview.

You will need:

• a level 3 subject specialist qualification.
• level 2 qualifications in English and maths
• confirmation of at least 30 hours of teaching practice in a suitable location
• A current DBS check

You will be invited to attend an interview before being offered a place on the course. This will comprise a written task and a one to one discussion with one of the teacher education team.

This course has multiple start points throughout the year, with the first cohort starting in September 2023.

How many hours / days per week is this course?

This course is delivered in a blended learning format. You will either be at the King's Lynn campus or studying remotely through sessions on Teams or by using our virtual learning environment, LEARN.

What can I do after this course at CWA?

Following successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to progress onto the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.

This course is assessed through written assignments, observations, reflective journals, case studies, checklists, online assessments, portfolio of evidence, professional discussions and general questioning.
