Applicants from outside the UK

If you haven't lived in the UK for the last three years, you might not be funded to study at CWA.

Following the departure from the European Union, you'll need to check that you are funded to study at CWA before you apply for your course. Please check the following information before applying. Please note that this information is correct at the time of writing and may change due to factors outside of our control.

• Aged 16 - 18 at the start the course

  You will be eligible to study in the UK if you meet any of the following criteria (regardless of the amount of years you've lived in the UK):

  • British or Irish citizen
  • Been granted settled or pre-settled status through the EU Settlement Scheme
  • Have leave to enter / remain or right of abode
  • Accompanying or joining your parents who have the right of abode or leave to enter / remain in the UK
  • Asylum seeker

  This isn't an exhaustive list but most of our international applicants fall into one of these categories. For further details and advice, please see UKCISA's website.

  We are unable to accept students who are in the UK with a student visa and do not meet the above criteria. 

  Following your application, we will send you a questionnaire to ask you further details regarding your residency status. In most instances, you'll have to send us your EU Settlement Scheme 'share code'. You can find more details on how to obtain one here. 

• Aged 19+ at the start the course

  As an adult student, you generally have to have lived in the UK or EEA for the last three years to be funded to study in the UK. This includes British / Irish citizens. You will be eligible to study in the UK if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • Lived in the UK for the last three years
  • British citizen who has lived in the EEA and UK only for the last three years
  • EU citizen who has lived in the EEA and UK only for the last three years and has settled / pre-settled status through the EU settlement scheme
  • You are a refugee or in the UK through one of the Ukraninan schemes (Family, Sponsorship or Extension)
  • You have discretionary, exceptional or indefinite leave to enter or remain

  If you are intending to use an Advanced Learner Loan (ALL) to cover the cost of your course (for Level 3 / Access to Higher Education courses), you have to meet similar critiera to be eligible for the ALL. You can find more details here.

If you do not meet the listed criteria to receive funding, you may still be able to study at the college if you are legally living in the UK but the full course fee (generally £2,000 - £3,000 per academic year) will apply.
