BA (Hons) Psychosocial Studies (Psychology and Sociology)
Our exciting BA (Hons) Psychosocial Studies course explores the relationship between 'self' and society. The course combines the study of individuals, using psychology and psychoanalysis, with the wider cultural and systemic studies of sociology. You will gain a rounded understanding of human behaviours, nature and relationships, as well as the ability to apply the theory practically to a variety of career aspirations and post graduate study. This degree is accredited by Anglia Ruskin University.

Course Description
As a full-time student, you will get the opportunity to take a variety of modules in order to build up a programme of study which suits your own subject interest or future career plans. All students have a personal tutor who they can meet at least twice a trimester to review progress and assist with any personal or academic problems. In the first year of the programme, students are provided with study skills and tutorials in order to hone skills relevant to higher education and progression into the sector. This course is an excellent choice if you're considering a career in fields such as mental health, education, criminal justice, counselling, and social work.

You should have:

72 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent level 3 qualification e.g. extended diploma (MMP) or Access course (30 level 3 credits at merit grade are required for Access progression)
- GCSE English at 4 (grade C) or above (or equivalent), or a willingness to obtain during your studies.
What if I don't meet the entry requirements?
Mature students without the above are considered depending on relevant experience and aptitude.
We also offer an Access to Higher Education - Humanities which can be studied on a full-time (3 days per week) or part-time basis (1 evening per week including some Saturday day sessions)

Course Fees
Academic Year Fee for the year 26/27 £9000 We set our course fees annually. As students pay a fee for each year of their course, the fees set for future academic years may be higher than those set in this academic year.
For each future academic year of your course of study, your fees may be subject to review and increase on a basis in line with the Retail Prices Index (RPI) plus 3%. RPI is a measure of inflation published monthly by the Office for National Statistics which measures the changes from month to month in the cost of a representative sample of retail goods and services bought by consumers within the UK. This means that your course fees will not be increased each year by more than RPI + 3% from the previous year's fees and will not ever exceed the maximum amount that the government allows higher education institutions to charge students in the related academic year.

How is my course assessed?
There are no final examinations at the end of the course, but some modules have an in class test as part of their assessment. Other modes of assessment include presentations, essays and, in the third year the major project dissertation.
Are there any additional costs?
Our suggested reading list (sent to you prior to the start of your course) costs approximately £50 (or free from your local library!)

The teaching team for this course are highly experienced and qualified, possessing masters in Criminology, Mental health & Neuroscience, and Occupational Psychology, and a PhD in inter-disciplinary studies. The team also has a wealth of both teaching and practical research experience to support you as you progress with your academic journey.
