Teaching Assistant - Apprenticeship - Level 3

The primary role of the Teaching Assistant is:

• To support the class teacher to enhance pupils learning either in groups or individually
• Ensure pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress
• Promote self-belief, social inclusion and a high self-esteem which play an integral part to pupils well-being
• Ensure pupils thrive in a positive, nurturing, safe environment
• Promote Fundamental British Values through spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and positive behaviours which are crucial in contributing to improved pupil progress and development

It is an active role in supporting the learner to access the curriculum. Teaching Assistants are good role models, act with honesty and integrity, take part in team meetings; contribute to planning and class activities.

You will need:

• GCSE grade 4 in English & maths is preferable but not essential.
• An interview and Initial assessments will be carried out to determine suitability to work at this level.
• Your job role should be for at least 30 hrs per week, although we can consider part time roles.

How many hours / days per week is this course?

Flexible but you need an employer to commence the apprenticeship. You will be required to attend monthly campus workshops to cover the knowledge aspects of your apprenticeship

What qualification will I achieve?

Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship

How is my course assessed?

• You will build an e-portfolio of evidence and will be assessed in the workplace using a range of methods, for example written assignments, case study work, reflective accounts and practical observation etc.
• An Assessor will visit you in the workplace on a regular basis in order to support you.
• The end point assessment is carried out by an independent and impartial assessor and includes: observation with questions and a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
