Software Development - Level 3

What will I study?

• Project Management: Learn project management concepts, processes and tools used by organisations to manage IT projects. Use project management software to plan an IT project, track progress, and review the outcomes to determine project success.
• Javascript: Develop an understanding of Javascript as a text-based programming language to create interactive elements on web pages.
• Maths for Computing: Learn how to apply number systems and interpret data gathered for a defined purpose, as well as developing maths skills for computing, including matrices, series and probability.
• Programming Implementation: Learn the underpinning concepts of programming and how it is implemented.
• Object-Oriented Programming: Understand the concepts of the OO paradigm and develop the skills for programming in an OO language.
• Software Testing: Testing strategies and techniques and the stages from planning to acceptance testing.
• Robot Technology: Learn about robot control systems, including how sensors and actuators are used in robotic systems. You will develop a program to control a robot.

You will need:

• GCSE Maths & English at Grade 4 (or above) or relevant equivalent qualification.

These are necessary to ensure suitability to learn at the attainment level of Level 3.

Students with non-English qualifications are recommended to attain equivalency certification through UK ENIC

How many hours / days per week is this course?

This course is an online course supported by a weekly 3 hour online session. Course materials are provided to allow the student to self-study at their own pace. This course will run on Thursday. Sessions will run from 6pm to 9pm

Learners with an active Education, Health & Care Plan

If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
