Sports academy students receive:

• 7.5 hours of professional coaching / matches per week

• Monday 14:45 – 17:00
• Tuesday 14:45 – 16:30
• Wednesday 13:00 – 16:30

• The Sports Academy

  The Sports Academy for elite individual athletes is to support talented athletes combine their education with reaching their full potential in their chosen sport by providing facilities, resources and sports science support. CWA has seen a number of talented athletes achieve their education and progress onto high level sporting careers including an olympic runner, professional kite surfer, GB rowing talent squad member, world kickboxing champion and a professional boxer to name a few.

  You will receive:

  • 7.5 hours built into your timetable to allow you to do specific training or matches for your sport
  • Free gym access
  • Access to recommended sports specialist physiotherapists and sports therapists
  • Opportunities to develop coaching, officiating and event management skills while enriching your CV with volunteer opportunities to gain valuable experience

  To obtain a place at a CWA Sports Academy you must be successful in securing a place on a full-time course at the College of West Anglia. 

• CWA Football Development Academy

  The CWA Football Development Academy is aimed at the best young footballers at under 19’s for boys and under 21’s for girls. We have seen students represent the England National College Team, Students move on to Soccer Scholarship in America and students become professional footballers.

  • 7.5 hours built into your timetable to allow you to do specific training or matches for your sport
  • Free gym access
  • Access to recommended sports specialist physiotherapists and sports therapists
  • Opportunities to develop coaching, officiating and event management skills while enriching your CV with volunteer opportunities to gain valuable experience

  To obtain a place at a CWA Sports Academy you must be successful in securing a place on a full-time course at the College of West Anglia. Those in the CWA Football Development Academy will also benefit from games against professional youth teams and a series of workshops aimed at developing their careers as well as guest speakers from professional football. 

• CWA Netball Academy

  The CWA Netball Academy is aimed at Netball players at under 19’s. CWA Netball Academy play in the AoC Sport east region league. Students have progressed onto senior netball at local clubs and opportunities are provided to engage in the England Netball Talent Pathway.

  You will receive:

  • 7.5 hours built into your timetable to allow you to do specific training or matches for your sport
  • Free gym access
  • Access to recommended sports specialist physiotherapists and sports therapists
  • Opportunities to develop coaching, officiating and event management skills while enriching your CV with volunteer opportunities to gain valuable experience

• CWA Basketball Academy

  Our CWA Basketball Academy offers Basketball players the opportunity to play in the AoC Sport East Region League & Cup. Students have progressed by gaining Sports Scholarships in the US and joining professional sports clubs.
