You'll gain the skills to work in a kitchen - from storing food hygienically to cooking simple dishes. You could go on to work in any professional kitchen, perhaps in a hotel, restaurant or school.

Course Description
This qualification requires learners to complete a mandatory work/industry placement experience throughout the duration of the qualification, before certification.
What will I study on this course?
Mandatory Units as follows - 18 Credits:
Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment Work effectively as part of a hospitality team
- Maintain food safety when preparing, storing and cooking food
**Optional units as follows:
- Prepare vegetables
- Maintain customer care
- Prepare and finish simple salad and fruit dishes
- Prepare hot and cold sandwiches
- Prepare and cook meat and poultry

Entry Requirements
You must be aged 19 or older in the previous academic year to access this course.
It would be advantageous to have some recent, relevant experience within this sector, but it is not essential.
You must be in a paid or voluntary role in a suitable workplace setting for 10 hours a week.
You will ideally hold a grade 4 or above in English but it is not essential. An assessment may be carried out to determine suitability if you do not hold this qualification.
You must meet certain eligibility requirements to be funded for this qualification. You can obtain funding through the Adult Skills Fund. More details can be provided on application.
