“I love learning and wanted to continue my career in becoming a SEND teacher. I chose UcWA as it was close to home, it offered the course I wanted (and needed) to complete to further my career and it was part-time, which helped to fit around my full-time job and external obligations.
I enjoyed attending onsite classes, learning more about the theories and philosophies of teaching and the support I had around me from lecturers and my peers.
Some of my favourite memories are from the laughter my group would have and how close and supportive we all were of each other. How we would have one member teach us an Italian word of the day, to thinking about an essay on reflections and our lecturer making lots of different cauliflower dishes!
Our lecturers were so supportive through my two years. We all shared teaching practices between us, with ideas on what we could try, to get better outcomes and help the students.
To someone considering studying at UcWA, I would say take a chance. They offer a range of courses. My course offered a blended approach of onsite and online, which helped those that had to travel in.
Since graduating, I have continued to use the skills and techniques I developed from my lecturers and peer group in my teaching career.”
